Chickens

You can watch the free range chickens on a 10 minute walk here (but are here sometime too) and buy their eggs from a 24-hour vending machine here

Just a little down the road from the chickens there is a Celtic grave mound. Tuningen was founded by Celts. There several nice walks in this area.

Hiking

There are several marked hiking trails with blue markings following a historic trail from the Celtic over Roman and Alemannic history of Tuningen with explanatory boards of the historical sites.

Further nice hikes are towards Mühlhausen to a little biotope (90 min circular route)

and Sunthausen Lake with a circular route.

The "Wanderfreunde Baar 1980 Tuningen" offer guided hikes once a month. Details in German here. And more information on hiking routes including GPX files here.

Recommendations for hikes by my mum on Komoot:

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking Tuningen

The Nordic Walking path (red) leads past the front door of our house (yellow circle)

Museum

Heimat Museum (5 Minutes walking distance behind the Rathaus; Phone Mr W. Esslinger for a private visit 07464-2202)

Music

Davide Martello is a pianist from Tuningen traveling the world with a mobile grand piano playing for peace in conflict zones like Afghanistan, Taksim Square, the attacks of Paris and many more. You can stream his music here:

Spotify, iTunes and Amazon.

Playground

Sports

  • Sports fields (football/soccer, tennis, beach volleyball)

  • Horse Riding at Turihof (5 min, offers short term holiday courses) and SKY RANCH - Leonie Mager Performance Horses (nice walk from the house through the woods)

  • Sledging (tobogganing): You will find sleds at the back door in the cellar. There is a good hill for sledging when there is snow in 5 minutes walking distance on the village outskirts direction Sunthausen here. Take care!

  • Kite flying is excellent on the fields of slight hills surrounding Tuningen. Leave the house going down the road on the left and then turn right to the fields and find a nice spot taking care to be well away from any electricity pylons. There are several easy to fly kites in the children's room on the very top of the red shelving. Some have two ropes so you can steer them.

Tourist Information

Current events in Tuningen can be checked on www.tuningen.de (German only). The Rathaus provides brochures on local attractions. However, for detailed tourist information refer to Villingen (Black Forrest) or Tuttlingen (Donautal and Alb) or Konstanz (Lake of Constance).

Water Buffalos

A small group of water buffalos make a nice destination for walks or bike tours.
